What is Kidrageous?
In 1999, Jacob’s Heart led the grassroots efforts to establish the month of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in the State of California. Kidrageous started as an innovative way to gather signatures for a petition, which was sent to Governor Gray Davis by Bruce McPherson. From a petition started in a parking lot in Santa Cruz, Governor Davis issued an executive order proclaiming September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The proclamation was later confirmed by concurrent resolution of the State Senate. Now, 17 years later, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is celebrated across the country every September, with an annual proclamation by the President.
